About Main Street Books

Main Street Books opened its doors in November 2002, originally at 205 Main Street, only to quickly outgrow that space and evolve into the unique treasure that is presently located at 210 Main Street in Historic Downtown Hattiesburg. Hailed by Southern Living Magazine as “a fine independent bookstore” (June, 2007), Main Street books has something to offer everyone.

Join us this week as we welcome Sam Haskell signing his new book "Promises I made to my Mother"

Owned by Jerry and Diane Shepherd, this venture has been one of love, “our hearts are so into this; we feel blessed to be part of such a unique community where friends, old and new, stop by just to say hello.” With the vibrant revitalization of downtown Hattiesburg, an escape from the big city hustle and bustle can be found at Main Street Books.
